Interesting Facts About English

‘E’ is the most commonly used letter in the English language. In fact, as many as one in eight of all the letters written in English is ‘e’.

More English words begin with the letter ‘S’ than any other letter of the alphabet.

English is the official language of the sky! It doesn’t matter which country they are from, all pilots speak in English on international flights.

It is estimated that over 1 billion people are currently learning English worldwide

About World English

As the number of English learners continues to grow, educators are seeking effective programs and instructional strategies to serve them. From its inception, improving the teaching of English around the world has been a core activity for CAL.

Currently CAL conduct projects ranging from curriculum design for English language learners, to professional development for instructors. CAL offers a variety of research-based resources related to the education of English language learners in Prekindergarten-Grade 12 programs; adult education programs; bilingual or dual language education programs, universities and community colleges; and business and workplace programs.

In addition, this group provides resources from third parties that will provide guidance on learning English.
