This CAL group provides an overview of effective approaches to instruction that support English learners (ELs) in K-12 settings, with a focus on secondary grades.

In this group, participants will increase their understanding of sheltered instruction practices as they work to effectively integrate language and content instruction for EL students. Resources and information that focus on learning about effective approaches and how to apply these instructional techniques in their classrooms, sharing evidence and providing ample opportunities for reflecting on learning throughout the group. The content and framework for this group is based on decades of research by the Center for Applied Linguistics and extensive experience working with educators.

  • Group Forums: start or participate in several ongoing discussion regarding a specific topics regarding the group.
  • Group Community: share and engage with other members to build contacts and share ideas.
